Foliage in Acadia

Oct 22

Today was a very nice fall day for Maine, roughly in the 50’s, cool and crisp with a bright sunshine. I got up early today… I normally sleep in. I saw that it was a nice clear day so I got ready and headed for Bar Harbor, Maine.

The Foliage on the way to Bar Harbor was very pretty, so many bright yellow and orange leaves, they gave off their own radiance as if they have a light source within. After I passed through Ellsworth, I was nearly to Bar Harbor, I could see the Ocean, the tide was out, which is just what I wanted. I stopped and took a few photos of the seaweed beach. It’s amazing to think how the moon affects so many things on this Earth. After taking photos and just sitting on a rock breathing in the salty air I got in the car and made my way to Bar Harbor. I decided to take one of the Acadia routes around Cadillac Mountain and towards Sand Beach. There were surprisingly a lot of people at the beach, not swimming of course, but just hanging out. Sand Beach is made of sand and tiny pieces of sea shells. It was great to relax on the beach and climb the salted rocks to the right of Sand Beach. I’ve seen a lot of beaches, but you can only see a beach like this in Maine or in other eastern States. You first see the Ocean, then the sandy beach and then Evergreens all in one package.

After awhile, I headed towards Thunder Hole, which is a cave in the ledge along the beach, when the tide is in, it makes a thundering canon noise, hence the name. After the sites, I just drove throughout the park and took random photos of the scenery. I kept thinking, “How can anyone say and believe that there is no God?”. Everywhere you look, you see His Glory and works in His Creation. There is no way that everything you see from the chemical makeup of metals that form from different elements to the very simplistic way of communication, mathematics, “just happened”. Everything is created to Glorify God, see Romans 11:36.

So, for all of readers out there, here are some photos for you to enjoy. They are cropped to save bandwidth, but if you’d like to have the original size, send me an e-mail.

First bite of Frost

Oct 21

As I exited my apartment building this morning I was greeted by the blinding sun piercing over the tops of the evergreen trees, as I made my way back to sight a frost bitten ground was revealed to my dismay. I headed to my car, watching my breath leave my mouth as a result of my moisture filled air condensing into fog from the cold air. I made it to my car to find that, it too, was covered in a thin layer of frost that needed to be scrapped off. On my 1 mile journey to work, I saw a boy clad in shorts and a vest, walking to a nearby middle school and thought, “do parents care about their children anymore?”

This weekend looks like it’s going to be nice, which is great, because August has not had many good weekends. I am planning on heading down to the coast of Maine to see the foliage; it is supposedly at peak right now. If I do go, I will be sure to post about it tomorrow with some photos. Autumn

Sep 28

I took today off from work to enjoy the nice fall weather we are having. Low 70’s with a crisp breeze. The leaves have started to turn, but nothing to get excited about, yet. I drove up to Dexter to see my grandparents, when I arrived, they were not home. I decided to take a walk in the fields and photograph some scenery. I took quit a few photos. I have found that the photos look much clearer when I have the resolution set to 2272×1704 and have the saturation turned up a bit. I found a few things that would make a great macro image. If you want the un-cropped image, let me know. You can see them here.

After checking out the field behind my old house, the frog ponds and the woods, I ventured into the corn fields and into another part of the woods. I got a little lost tried to find the old railroad trestle, but eventually I found it. One of my favorite things to do is to walk through the woods and listen to all of the animals, feel the breeze flow over you and take in the scent of autumn.

Camping with Dad

Aug 06

Another sunny and clear Saturday! Maine has really had a great summer this year. I went up to Dad’s camp again. We went 4-wheeling with about 7 other people. We rode for about 60 miles. I got to see Big Spenser up close… what an enormous mountain. I don’t know why, but I love mountains. I plan on climbing it this fall. After awhile of Dad driving, I took my turn. We stopped at a bog to eat and rest. All of the sudden two F-22 Raptors come flying up over the mountain ridge. The military practices up north a lot. It was really neat to see them and really loud! We took off and came to some muddy trails, I decided to get a little muddy so tore up the trails. Dad like it, we both had a great time getting soaked in mud. By the time we got back to the truck, I was completely soaked in mud!

We hung out around the camp fire again. Dad and I found a bunch of things to burn. We both have a fascination with fire. The sun was starting to sit and was casting a purple / blue light over Roach Pond and Big Spenser. I took some photos of it. I left after it got dark and saw two moose crossing the road.

Bar Harbor trip

Jul 23

Another sunny and clear Saturday. I went to Bar Harbor, Maine today. I love it there, it’s right on the coast of Maine. I walked around the coast a bit and than went into all of the little shops / stores they have there. I purchased a Maine magnet for my fridge. I’m starting a new collection, I’m going to buy one for every State that I visit.

After a few hours of walked around, I drive to Acadia National Park and drove up to to top of Cadillac mountain. You can bike or drive up… I chose to drive… It’s so pretty up there. So peaceful. There was one area that you can just lie down on a the ledge and just see for hundreds of miles.

ATV riding

Jul 16

What a nice day Saturday (today) was! ~80-85F. I went up to Dad’s camp again. On my way up, I stopped on Pushaw RD in Bangor to take some photos of the sky. The clouds are very strangely shaped at all three layers. I spent ~25 minutes taking photos. A local farmer came over and said the land is for sale for $16 million. I told him I’m just taking photos of the sky and he asked of me of what… I told him clouds and he said, “No, you’re taking pictures of UFO’s. I’ve seen an UFO up there before”. He went on for about 15 minutes about that and other stuff until I finally said I need to go.

Dad and I went 4-wheeling most of the day. We took turns driving. They have been making trails around the lakes and mountains up there, wide enough for a truck to drive on and a couple of ATV’s. The landscape is so beautiful there, anyone who say it could not deny that there is a higher being that created everything. The air is so clean and fresh up north as well… pine trees and raspberries… yum. When I was driving back, a female moose jumped out right in front of us so I put the brakes on and let her get ahead of us a bit. I picked up the pace a bit just to follow her, she kept looking back at us. Moose are so goofy looking when they run!

Later that day we just hung around the camp fire, talked, ate, etc. I left around 8 and go into Greenville and the sun was just setting. I stopped by Moosehead and took some of the most beautiful photos that I have ever taken. Everywhere I looked there were golden sun rays beaming over one of the mountains and shimmering over the lake.
