LOST

Mar 31

It feels as though summer has arrived. I had to use my air conditioner a few days ago in my car. The weather today is going to get up in the mid-sixties which is good for this time of year. Usually we are recovering from a massive snow storm.

Last Tuesday night I purchased a small table-top grill from Wal-Mart for $30. I decided to go with a smaller one so I can take it with me more easily and also store it in my spare bedroom. Nate came over last night, we cooked hamburgers & hotdogs. They came out pretty good. I really missed tasting food from the grill.

I want to point out that I have published the Christianity FAQs under the Christian section. It is not close to being finished but I am working on it.

I have missed the past month of LOST on ABC due to attending Campus Crusade for Christ, but last Wednesday night I decided to stay home and watch LOST among other reasons. I am going to explain why I enjoy LOST so much.

First of all, this show has two stories tied into one. There’s the story of Oceanic Flight 815 that crashed on a mysterious supposedly unknown island and the characters have to depend on each other for survival. The other part of the show’s story is flashing back to the characters lives in the past and how they became who they are and what led them to Oceanic Flight 815 and how each and everyone of the characters had some sort of direct and or indirect effect on each others lives that potentially led them to that flight.

The mystery of the Island, the hatch and the infamous string on numbers (4,8,15,16,23,42) that are displayed latterly everywhere the survivors past. I’ll give a few examples: Hurley was in an asylum for awhile and one of his friends was some sort of Navy technician that listened for signals across the sea from enemies and hear someone repeating the string of numbers over and over. This drove him mad, hence being in the asylum. He repeated the numbers over and over and they stuck in Hurley’s head. Once Hurly got out, he used the numbers in a lottery and won 114 million dollars. Hurley than buys a box company that Locke works at and the box company’s manager used to be Hurly’s manager (used to because Hurley bought out the fast-food store that he managed) and is now Locke’s. This manager is a jerk and drove Locke to head to Australia- the reason I won’t reveal here.

There are many in-depth connections between the characters, the numbers, etc. Here’s a link to some information on the connections.

Later on in the show we find that there’s a hatch in the ground with the numbers on it and eventually we get inside to discover some sort of bunker that has a computer that counts down from 108 minutes, once it gets to the end you have to enter the string of numbers or “something catastrophic” will happen according to a movie found in the hatch. What is interesting is that the numbers add up to 108 and it takes 108 minutes for a satellite to rotate the Earth. If you follow the show you may see where I’m going with this.

I’ll talk about one more point and than I’ll close. The hatch’s purpose was for scientific studies on the following areas: paranormal, meteorological, zoology, parapsychology and magnetism. This explains some of the strange things on the Island, some of its inhabitants and survivors abilities.

Hopefully, if you are not already interested in this show, I have drawn you in a little bit. It’s best to watch it from the beginning; you can find the DVD for Season 1 at any store that carries movies. LOST airs Wednesday nights at 9PM EST on ABC.

Spring is close

Mar 15

This week has been decent weather wise, it snowed but it melted a day or two later. I almost wore my spring jacket, that’s how warm it’s been this week, spring is almost here. Some trees are already budding and the eminent burst of leaves is near. I working on a spring theme, hopefully it’ll be up soon.

Last night I read Left Behind: Tribulation Force for about 2 hours, I didn’t realize how fast the time went by! I really like this series. I wish that I could have the courage that some of the characters in the book have to speak out for Christ. I am ashamed of myself that I cannot talk about the Lord with anyone, my Savior who died for me. This is something that I have been praying about and working on for awhile and I just ask that if you area Christian that you’d pray for strength in this area. I want to talk to my Dad about Christ because I am not sure where he stands. The Church has ordered new material from The Way of the Master and is going to arrive soon. It helps you witness to people from a heart to heart perspective. Any and all prayers will be very much appreciated!

SciFi Friday comes to an end for a short time

Mar 10

Yes, it’s true. Stargate SG-1, Stargate Atlantis and Battlestar Gallactica seasons have ended and won’t start up until July except for BSG, which will start in October. BSG has become a major hit and NBC is talking about moving it to their own channel since they own SciFi. I personally hope this does not happen because NBC will strip BSG from its glory, its controversial subjects and hardcore scifi genre.

I am having a few people over tomorrow night from Campus Crusade for Christ. We’ll end up talking and or watching a movie while enjoying some pizza.

I purchased a new game this week, Ghost Recon Advanced War fighter. I really enjoy this game, it’s tactical based meaning you are the captain of your squad and can control the way they use their weapons and can control tanks, helicopters, etc.
