Left Behind

Jan 30

Another birthday as come and gone and left me a year older. Yesterday was my birthday and am now 24. Dad and Karen took me to Applebee’s last Friday. I tried something other than my normal chicken fingers- Chicken Cordon Bleu- which turned out to be very good and filling. After we ate, we went to Wal-Mart and I was surprised to see an Xbox 360 Premium for sale, so I purchased it and sold it to one of my friends that were in search for one. I helped him hook it up Saturday night.

Sunday I went to Church and Sunday school, after I headed to Grammies for dinner and cake. That afternoon I read the first book in Left Behind for an hour or so. I am really enjoying this series. If anyone is interested, head over to the Left Behind website. Mom bought me the last book in the series, The Glorious Appearing and a gift card to Lambs.

Campus Crusade for Christ

Jan 24

It seems as though the January Thaw has ended. Last night we received roughly 4 inches of light, fluffy snow. When I woke up this morning I stepped outside and headed towards my car and noticed a few inches of snow on all of the tree branches with the sun peering through the crevasses of the mangled barren branches. Before work I took a few pictures of some trees and of the Penobscot River. I hope they come out alright, but I am afraid since I was in a rush that they didn’t come out as I am expecting. I’ll update this entry later tonight if they came out O.K. I would love to take a day off sometime when I know it’s going to snow like this and just take photos.

Last week I was invited to go to University of Maine in Orono’s Campus Crusade For Christ meeting. I went and had a really good time. I met a lot of people there that are close to my age. I am hoping that I can learn more about the Bible and gain some good friends out of these weekly meetings. The next night, Friday, we went to see “End of the Spear”, a movie about some missionaries that witnessed to a tribal group in South America and were killed. It was a good movie although it could have had more Scripture in it. The following Sunday we were going to go Tubing on Hermon Mountain but it was too warm so we went over to one of the member’s house and played games for the night.

Update: I have posted a few of the photos I took, these are not the full resolution- the lighting is different because of the sun and not having enough time to tweak the manual settings. Ejoy.

January Thaw

Jan 14

This week was somewhat un-eventful except for the fact that I was able to pickup a few things at Lambs Book and Bible with my gift card that Dad gave me for Christmas. I went to John Heresy’s place with our Sunday school class last Saturday- we had a good time.

This week has been extremely warm for this time of year. The 4 feet deep ice on the Penobscot River is melting and floating down towards the Atlantic. For the majority of this week we have had weather in the 50’s which is great. Today, I woke up to rain and when I say rain I mean it was pouring cats and dogs! I am having more of my photos printed off so I can put them in my new photo collage frame I just purchased from Linen n Things. I am thinking about purchasing a new painting as well.

One of two of my highlights for the week are over, SciFi Friday was on last night and I thoroughly enjoyed Battlestar Gallactica. The next highlight will be tomorrow, attending Church.

Consumer Electronics Show 2006

Jan 09

Today I woke up to a beautiful snow covered view outside my bedroom window. The pine trees where coated with fresh fluffy snow. On my way to work Howard Street is once again something to look twice at with the maple trees drooped and covered in a fresh coating snow. I am really excited after reading a bunch of reviews on CES 2006. I really love new technology, hardware, software and games. I recently finished upgrading the back-end for this blog, my clients and my forum message boards and had a good time doing it. I enjoy reading and experimenting with the new features, enjoying looking at the new coding also goes along with that excitement.

Some of the articles I read from CES 2006 is the upcoming Western Digital Rapter - X. I’m really impressed with its specifications. It has a hefty price of $350, something I would not spend on a hard drive for what I do. Another interesting yet discouraging topic at CES was the BluRay vs. HD-DVD war. I really hope that the new HD format for media settles soon because the consumer is going to lose. Who wants to purchase two DVD players to watch a certain movie? I know I don’t. All I know is that I am happy with what I have now, though I must admit I’m a little worried for the future of HD media. I’ll probably end up re-purchasing some of my movie titles in HD.
