A rainy Saturday

Sep 17

It rained all day today. I would of went up to Dad’s camp if the weather permitted. I went over to Rich’s today to make sure his DVD player was setup properly. He has a new 50″ widescreen DLP TV. It displayed 1.78:1 movies properly. After watching a few scenes from The Matrix and Lost I went home.

I am considering purchasing a widescreen TV. It would be a Sony 34″ CRT tube TV though. From what I have seen, CRT’s have the best picture, clarity, blacks, whites and vividness. It’s 2″ longer than my current TV and has an HDMI connection. I will most likely purchase it if I can sell my current TV to a friend.

I found a funny website, Reverend Fun, it’s a comic site about Christianity.

I worked on Beth’s new site for See Dirt Run for a couple of hours. She wants it real plain and simple, but able to change the header, footer, menu system without having to edit every page. I am using PHP to accomplish her needs.

Well, I’m off to eat my cheese burger I just cooked on my George Foreman grill and watch a movie.

New blog software

Sep 16

As you can see, I have implemented a new blog system. It’s fully PHP and MySQL driven. I am using WordPress, I really like this new software. I can add blogs from anywhere now and guests can write comments. I will now be posting more entries.

I am still working on some of the CSS to match my current [O]2k theme. I purchased Smallville Season 4 and Lost Season 1 this week.

Mountain Hike

Sep 03

Today we climb Peaks of Otter (Sharp Top) which you can see from Mom’s porch. The hike took about an hour and half. It’s about 3,500 feet up. 3,000 feet up there’s a ledge named Buzzards Edge. I went out and there are huge rocks you can climb up on and look for miles and miles. I met a few guys there, they attend Liberty University. We talked for a few minutes. After, I met up with Mom and Jack at the top of the Sharp Top. What an amazingly beautiful view. You can look in a complete circle. There are some rocks that you can climb up on and I did, Mom was nervous but took some pretty neat photos of me. There’s a camp on top as well that people use to camp out at night. I’d love to do that sometime. We had a snack and headed back down. I wanted Mom to get a photo of me on Buzzards Edge. I climbed down too far and got stuck…. I finally was able to get out.

We headed down and went home to rest. Vacation is over… Time to go home. I know I’m going to miss Mom, Jack , Bugsy and Virginia. I am really considering moving down to VA.

VA Natural Bridge

Sep 02

So today Jack and Mom took me to see Virginia’s Natural Bridge. I’ve been there before when I was a child. We got there and purchased some tickets for the Bridge and for a tour of some caverns nearby. We walked to the caverns and waited for our turn to take the tour.

Caverns and caves have always interested me. The tour was interesting and fun. After, we went to the gift shop and purchased some candy. I bought a $2 recipes peanut butter cup… it was good.

After, we headed down to see the bridge. There’s a 2,000 year old tree that is now dead but still erected. The bridge is pretty amazing once you see it. It’s neat to think that a long time ago there use to be a river that flowed through it. We saw a mock Indian camp which was interesting as well.

Boat riding

Sep 01

Today we went to Smith Mountain Lake, Jack has a friend that owns a house on the lake. It’s mostly a retirement area and/or area for people that have a lot of money.

The lake is 26 miles long and has ~500 miles of shore line. Jim and Marry (the couple that has the house on the lake) has a party platoon type boat. They took us out on the lake, we road around for almost 3 hours. Very beautiful house and scenery. After awhile, we stopped at a restaurant and ate. They have a dock that you can walk out on and beside the dock there are hundreds of Carp fish just waiting for someone to toss some pop-corn in. I could reach down and pick one up or even pet them. Everywhere you went they would follow you with there mouths wide open!

After we ate we rode for a little while longer and than went back to their house and talked for a bit. After, we went home and relaxed for the rest of the day. I read for a couple of hours on Mom’s porch swing and fell asleep for an hour.
