New TV and the end of summer

Sep 24

Today is the end of summer weather here in the State of Maine. It was sunny, clear and crisp; weather that I enjoy very much. I put away my shorts and cleaned out my closet this morning to prepare for the onslaught of winter.

Dave Ruiz, one of my co-workers, came over today and we went TV shopping. Dave knows a sales man at Circuit City, and he helped me get a good deal on a TV I have been looking into for a few weeks. I bit the bullet and bought the TV. It’s a Sony KD-34XBR960, 34″ widescreen HDTV, CRT. It’s very nice, I’m happy with it. I sold my old TV to Dave. I’ll have pictures up in a bit for those of you who want to see what it looks like.

Here’s a photo.

Update: Here’s a photo that I took on April 4th, 2006.

[...] I’ve been thinking Lord of the Rings a lot today, I watched the extended editions of Fellowship of the Ring and The Two Towers this past weekend on my widescreen… yes, I keep talking about it because I am really enjoying it… it’s my first 16×9. I also read Return of the King a little bit last night. I love the way Tolkien writes. My favorite portion of the book is Tom Bombadil and the Ents. I love the ents, Treebeard, Quickbeam, etc. The Last March of the Ents… it’s pretty exciting. My mom bought me a book named Finding God in Lord of the Rings. Even before reading that book, a lot of Christianity is in LOTR, Tolkien was a Christian as was C.S. Lewis. I am in the processes of reading through The Chronicals of Narnia which is also really good series if you like fantasy. If you want a good Encyclopedia of LOTR, check out The Encyclopedia of Arda.
